In 1985, the late Professor Brien Holden established the Institute for Eye Research (IER). In collaboration with our industry and Cooperative Research Centre partners and an extraordinary team of researchers, Professor Holden, Dr Arthur Ho, Dr Arthur Back and Dr Debbie Sweeney played an integral part in the development and commercialisation of the silicon hydrogel contact lens.
In 2010, IER became “Brien Holden Vision Institute”.
Today, five years after the passing of our founder, we are simply: BHVI.
