Both the incidence and prevalence of myopia and high myopia are rising globally. Prevalence of myopia is already 80% – 90% for young adults aged 17 – 18 years in many East and Southeast Asian countries1 but more importantly, myopia is beginning to be seen at earlier ages than before.
