Position Available: Senior Research Optometrist

Brien Holden Vision Institute are seeking a Senior Research Optometrist to undertake clinical research works under the Clinical Research and Trials Centre (CRTC).

This is a full time position offering 38 hours/week, with shifts allocated between 8am – 7pm, Monday to Saturday.

To undertake clinical research according to company SOPs and regulatory requirements to achieve Project, Organisation and Sponsor objectives.

  • Seeing participants for clinical trial visits
  • Assist in the development of essential documents and oversee submissions to HREC
  • Ensure trials are running to agreed milestones and deliverables whilst maintaining good relations and regular contact with Sponsors
  • Ensure trials are conducted to the highest standards, in accordance with company SOPs and with local regulations and ethical requirements
  • Liaise with Biostatistician to analyse study data for generation of reports, papers, presentations etc and assist with collation and reporting of clinical information
  • Update on the status and report findings to the study team, relevant CRTC personnel and also during conference calls, industry updates and scientific meetings
  • Preparation of background material for presentations
  • Maintain concordance
  • Out of hours on call rotating roster
  • Provide study visits at all BHVI optometric clinics
  • Willingness to work extended hours (after-hours/weekends) occasionally on an as needed basis
  • All staff members must be familiar with, and observe the standards contained in, the Organisation’s Code of Conduct, values, policies and the five Organisation Goals
  • Other relevant duties as may be required
  • Maintenance and calibration of CRTC equipment

Education

  • Optometric Qualification

Related Experience

Essential
  • Australian registration
  • Minimum four years contact lens experience – either in practice, research or educational environments
  • Excellent optometric clinical skills
  • Computing skills (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Desirable
  • Knowledge of statistics
  • Experience working in a busy optometric clinic/practice
  • Experience in a research environment
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice principles
  • Bilingual (e.g. Chinese, Vietnamese, etc.)
