Brien Holden Vision Institute invited to partner Eye Sight Day event in China

Sydney, Australia, 10 July 2017: Recently the Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission and Shanghai Eye Disease Prevention and Treatment Centre (SEDPTC) jointly organized the Shanghai twenty-second National Eye Health Day theme activities at Shanghai Botanical Garden as part of the Eye Sight Day event in China. Municipal and district level of government officials and sponsors have also attended this annual national event.   

Professor Xu Xun, director of the Shanghai Eye Disease and Prevention and Treatment Center (SEDPTC) emphasized the importance of outdoors activities in prevention of myopia progression. Professor Zou, deputy director of the center have also acknowledged that high myopia prevalence observed in Shanghai with 53.02% of adults being vision impaired due to myopia.

Dr Kah Ooi Tan, CEO of Brien Holden Vision Institute in China has also been invited as a key partner for this event. He appraised the initiatives and activities organized by SEDPTC in reducing myopia boom and Brien Holden Vision Institute is honored to be a key partner to collaborate with SEDPTC in the myopic research. Dr Tan also presented the prize to the award-winning children as an honored guest.

This event was also supported by Benjamin Song and Frank Chen, clinical optometrists from Brien Holden Vision Institute in China.

Brien Holden Vision Institute and SEDPTC have been collaborating in analyzing data, developing protocols for myopia intervention studies and elderly eye care project.
